Teacher Jailed and Eventually Released in Sudan For Allowing Her Students to Name a Teddy Bear Muhammad

A teacher in a Sudanese school was jailed at the end of November. The teacher was from the UK and was jailed not for killing a child, abusing a child, molesting a child, theft or anything so major. She allowed the children in her class to name a Teddy Bear after someone they had grown to love on a spiritual and personal level in stories of the man who after much trial and tribulation received a message of God's word from an angel and preached the message in Mecca in turn going through more trials and tribulations but eventually being the man who was responsible for the beginnings of Islam. What better way to honor this man - this prophet than to name a character after him? If this wasn't the intent of the children in naming their Teddy Bear after this great prophet then what was their intent? The other option is that they were naming the Bear after some friend or family member with the same name as the prophet. There are many many men across the world with this name and many of them worthy of much love and respect so perhaps this was the reason for the name. Interesting that with the intent of honor it would be against what is accepted by a group of people to honor a prophet by naming something after that prophet. Isn't that what they have been doing since at least the year 632? The name literally means "Praiseworthy" so what is it that makes these babies worthy of praise who are named after a great prophet? Many of the babies named after such a praiseworthy human being grow up to be nothing close to praiseworthy. Some of these men have grown up thinking that women are to be submissive as if they are livestock used for nothing more than the purpose of completing a particular work to meet the needs of men. As if she is property because without equality that is all you can be is someone elses puppet as opposed to a completely contributing individual in your family and society. Many of the men named after this great prophet have created laws which prevent women from associating with men they do not know so that when they are attacked and brutally raped they are treated as criminals instead of victims of a brutal crime. The men (some of them named Muhammad) are given minimal punishment for their rape while the women are punished by being jailed, shunned and in some cases put to death. What would we do if men got raped so brutally I wonder in this society? This society where men named Muhammad can be named after a great prophet and not live up to the name or even come close. All of these attrocities happen on a daily basis and people are up in arms protesting and jailing people for naming a Teddy Bear after a great prophet. Where is the logic in this? If it is offensive to name a Bear Muhammad then it should be offensive to name a man the same unless he has earned the title through great works in his society. Without having gone through similar trials and tribulations, without having traveled and been educated similarly and received similar messages from God how is anyone or anything to be worthy of the name? I say to the people who are opposed to the honor of anyone naming anything after a greatly respected and loved prophet "BE CONSISTENT IN THIS RULE - DON'T ALLOW ANYONE TO BE AWARDED THIS NAME UNTIL THEY HAVE EARNED IT - OR TAKE IT AWAY AND SHUN THEM AS IF THEY HAVE BROKEN A LAW WHEN THEY DON'T LIVE UP TO IT - IF IT IS A NAME WORTHY OF HONOR AND PRAISE THEN WHY NOT TREAT IT THAT WAY AND STOP GIVING THE NAME TO MEN NOT SO WORTHY OF SUCH PRAISE AS THE HONOR OF CARRYING THE NAME OF A PROPHET."

Interesting Video - Lots Of Good Points

Here is a video I found on You Tube when I was skimming around on the internet. It's a little 8 year old girl responding to the day she saw O'Reilly on the Oprah show. The girl cusses in the clip and says stuff about religion so if you're easily offended then quit your bitchin' and get off the internet. It's actually sort of funny because I have a friend who I could imagine being like this when she was an 8 year old. The video has a lot of good points but it's a little weird coming from an 8 year old. She would likely be a good little actress and she should go on an audition because she does good at remembering her whole little speach and emphasizing emotion throughout the thing.

Six Muslim Imams Removed from U.S. Airliner

Six Muslim imams removed from U.S. airliner Six Muslim imams were removed from a US Airways flight at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on Monday and questioned by police for several hours before being released, a leader of the group said.

I got an email from TBLJ about this and decided to comment on it. Once again someone has been removed from a plan for praying. First it's the Jews and then it's the Muslims. All because either people can't handle religion or people can't handle non-christian religion. Depending on which way you look at it you could argue that this is what happens when we remove prayer from schools or you could argue that this is what happens when ignorant people who have only been exposed to Christian style prayer are allowed to work for the airline industry or to fly. I say the only way to find out which is true is to get a bunch of open minded Christians to pray visibly on a plane and then get someone to complain of it who is on the same plane. If they remove the Christian from the plane then maybe it's a matter of this is what happens when you remove prayer from schools but I would venture to guess that the Christian would be permitted to stay on the plane which would fit with the second theory of Ignorant Christians Gone Wild.

Any volunteers out there willing to test the theory?

My Vent about Ousted Evangelist Ted Haggard

Rev. Ted Haggard confessed to his followers saying he was a deceiver and a liar who had given in to his dark side. This type of guy is why the rest of the world sees gay people as only interested in sex. There is a stereotype of homosexuals being a group of sex crazed party animals with no morals. If people who were actually gay like this "bone smoker" would just live their lives as the person they were then we may not have such an issue. This type of crap is the reason why people can't see gay relationships as just that, a "relationship". Because closeted bone heads like this guy end up creating some sort of huge issue when they are forced out of the closet by someone who has irrefutable evidence of them being an immoral bone smoking drug addict who pays for sex, the rest of us have to pay. The reason this guy fought so hard against gay marriage is because he couldn't imagine someone gay actually being in a relationship as opposed to just bending over for some prostitute massage therapist. In reality we homos actually do have relationships. We save ourselves for marriage (or some version of it), we live together, raise children, pay bills blah-blah-blah just like breeders do. I hope that all of the bone smokin prostitute chasers are forced out of the closet soon so that we can just live our lives and get on with it. I sure do hope I don't have to flip chanels to find his wife crying her mascara off later on this week.

What do challenges mean?

I wonder if this is true. I was watching someone on TV the other day and he was talking about a decision he had made in his life. He mentioned that when he told his friends they all tried to talk him out of it as if he were crazy. He said at every turn he met challenges from his friends and elsewhere as well. He said it meant that he was supposed to be doing that thing or he wouldn't have met so many challenges along the way. He said that God meant for him to do that thing and the challenges made that fact more clear, and that where he had received no challenges in his life he had come to know that was when he had made a wrong decision and taken the lazy/easy road for some reason or another. I want to know if this is true or is this some sort of hippy religious mumbo jumbo that people say to make themselves feel better about all the bad things which come along in their life. Chime in and let me know what you think.
