What Class Are You?

Ok. So the New York Times has a class calculator that you can choose options on in order to find out what class you fall into in 4 different categories. The categories are Occupation - Education - Income - Wealth. Check it out and let me know what class you are in my comments. I am Middle Class in Occupation falling into the 45th percentile of the country - Upper Middle Class in Education falling into the 69th percentile - Lower Middle Class in Income falling into the 38th percentile - Lower Middle Class in Wealth falling into the 37th percentile - My average is in the 47th percentile. I have to say one thing that I am disappointed in as it relates to this little calculator is that my education is Upper Middle Class and the rest of me is well below that. I suppose that shows you just how lazy I really am when it comes down to it. The other frustrating thing is that I am middle class in my occupation but I am getting paid a lower middle class income. What the hell is that about? I would venture to guess it is because I have a lower middle class attitude, a lower middle class confidence level and a bottom 5th class mouth. We'll see whether or not any of that changes now that I'm doing the work I'm doing as it relates to my Remediation of an Angry Fat Ass blog.

$55,000 Per Speech Speaker For Hire

What in the world is happening when any person at all can command a fee for a speech that is more than a hell of a lot of people make in an entire year? John Edwards spoke to UC Davis students about poverty for $55k. He yaps about financial barriers for college students and then ups the next years salary for them by charging a crap load of money to talk to them about how messed up the world is for it's problems. What an idiot. Why even speak on poverty if you are gonna charge that much to do it? Choose a different topic or charge a different price. I'm all for people making money but geez! $200 or $400 haircuts or whatever it is and now this. No way would I vote for this guy. At the very least he would spend too much of the taxpayers money on pointless crap he could have saved money on.

MIT Dean of Admissions Resigns After the Discovery of her 28 Year Lie

Wow!? I think this story is interesting in all sorts of areas. Marilee Jones was well known for urging stressed out students competing for elite colleges to calm down. I guess she knew what she was talking about. No need to stress it's not nearly as hard as it seems to get into MIT. She did it with basically no credentials at all. Apparently, she fabricated her resume to get her job at MIT back in the 70's and then never corrected it when applying to other positions within the institution. Because they had all known her for so long and had known that she was capable of upstanding work they didn't check into her resume. Had it not been for the fact that she had written a book which included sections about integrity she'd likely still have a job. The whole situation kinda sucks because apparently she was doing a good job. It really sucks that an institution that works its best to keep up the whole lie that you need a degree in order to do good work and qualify for a job ended up proving the opposite. I'm assuming they gave her a choice between quitting and getting fired. Either way it sucks for all involved. This is what happens when you lie but it just goes to show you that you don't have to have letters behind your name to take care of business. It's just too bad that the rest of the world doesn't realize that fact.
